The first annual Built Green™ Expo, Conference & Tour will be held at Santa Barbara City College on Friday June 13 and Saturday June 14, 2008. The Expo is another part of Built Green™ Santa Barbara’s mission to encourage building owners, builders and architects to voluntarily incorporate green building practices into their projects. At the top of the agenda are efficient building materials, new products and techniques that result in superior environmental quality, energy efficiency, and natural resource conservation.
Join us for a course that explores the five stages of lifecycle thinking - and how buildings in the design industry can have an impact on each phase. Learn about the global environmental issues that help us measure and understand our impact and learn about new tools available to help you asses the environmental health of the products you specifiy.

Speaker: The architect and designer
Alfred Homann grew up in South Zealand, Denmark. In 1976, he graduated as an architect from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen.
Homann is one of Denmark’s most renowned architects. His designs are featured in projects and exhibits worldwide. In the past few decades, Homann has received international awards for his buildings, furniture and luminaire designs. Since his collaboration with Louis Poulsen in 1976, he has designed award winning luminaires such as the Kipp and Nyhavn series

Landscape Architect Steve Martino has earned an international reputation for design excellence. His efforts are based on his intimate understanding of the region and on the underlying theme of man’s relationship to the desert environment.
Steve’s projects have been recognized with over 100 local, regional and national design awards, including nine National Design Awards from the American Society of Landscape Architects. His work has been published nationally and internationally in over 360 books and periodicals. He was the first landscape architect to be used in PBS’s This Old House.

Speaker: Adèle Naudé Santos, FAIA, is an architect and urban designer whose career combines professional practice, research, and teaching. Ms. Santos has won international design competitions, published work in journals worldwide and has worked in cultures as diverse as Japan, Africa, and the United States. Ms. Santos is currently Dean of the School of Architecture and Planning at MIT, as well as principal architect in the San Francisco based firm, Santos Prescott and Associates.

James Richärd, AIA and Kelly Bauer, FIIDA are the founding partners and design principals of richard + bauer architecture, a studio based, integrated architectural and interiors practice focusing on innovative work in the public realm.
