Passing the Torch: This Month's Board Meeting

Passing the Torch

This past Saturday was the Annual Kick Off Meeting for the IIDA Southern California Board.  A few times a year, the Board meets in person to talk about important Chapter issues and most importantly, what we can do for our Membership.  As the Board terms begin and end each year in July, it was appropriate that his month, on July 21, the focus of the meeting was the introduction of new members to the Board.  Roles and Responsibilities were discussed and massive knowledge transfers took place.

The Board for the 2012-2013 term consists of several returning members; new faces include Kelly Capp of AECOM, David Loyola of Gensler, and Erica Robles of Klawiter.  New Directors at City Centers are Niki Valdes of Knoll in Los Angeles, Stephanie Martinez of SCI Design Group and Kendra Phillips of Spinitar, both new for Orange County.

We learned about some exciting things the VPs are planning for the next Term, so stay tuned for many updates regarding events.  Some highlights and dates to hold include:  Nov 6, 7 and 8 for a Speaker Series, some exciting updates to the Annual Student Competition in early 2013, and some updates regarding legislation.

Make sure you watch for dates for Neoconnect in San Diego and Orange County, which are held every year in the Fall, and the date is already set for Calibre on May 10th!  Did you know that 2013 will be the 25th Anniversary for the Calibre Awards?

Thank you Chris Coldoff, now Past-President for the Chapter for a great 2011/2012 and kicking off a successful Board Meeting.  The torch has now been passed to Scott Johnson, the current Board President, and supported by President Elect David Fridlund.  These three gentleman make a great Team!  Looking forward to many more great Chapter events!
