MDC has more than 65 outside sales representatives, as well as additional sales support, reporting to four regional offices. The company’s sales efforts extend further through a worldwide distribution network. A staff of approximately 70 associates are in MDC’s corporate headquarters.

Account Executive- Los Angeles

Summary: Sell MDC products to A&D businesses, industrial establishments or individuals at sales office, store, showroom, or customer’s place of business by performing the following duties. Territory to include Downtown Los Angeles and surrounding area. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, cold calls, and other sources.
  • Manage the entire sales cycle from prospecting, face to face meetings, pitching and price negotiations.
  • Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders.
  • Displays or demonstrate product, using samples or catalog, and emphasizes salable features.
  • Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm’s production and delivery schedules.
  • Prepares reports of business transactions and keeps expense accounts.
  • Investigates and resolves customer problems including deliveries.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with all accounts 
  • Attends trade shows.

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university preferred, Associates degree and experience in similar sales environment considered. 

Sales Ability:

1-2 years of previous sales experience in a business to business environment with a high degree of customer service. Ability to build new and existing relationships. Self- starter and motivated hunter with the goal of outperforming the competition and raising the awareness of MDC products. Business Acumen skills. High degree of integrity. 

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. 

Reasoning Ability: 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to work with multiple deadlines. Able to work under pressure. 

Computer Skills: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word word processing software; Excel spreadsheet software; Accounting software; Inventory software; Development software; Design software; Explorer internet software; Order processing systems; Manufacturing software; Database software and Contact Management systems.
