The Art of Magnetic Communication: Insights from Doug Shapiro

IIDA had the pleasure of welcoming Doug Shapiro from JSI to speak on the topic of Magnetic Communication. Drawing from over 250 interviews conducted for his podcast—launched during the early days of COVID—Doug shared valuable insights and practical tools for engaging more effectively with others. From simple advice like “just smile” to strategies like mentally placing yourself in the room before presenting, his tips offered helpful ways to reduce anxiety and connect more meaningfully with colleagues or an audience.

A particularly touching moment came when Doug spoke about his favorite interview—his mom—which sparked a collective “aww” from the group.

We’re incredibly grateful to Doug for joining us all the way from St. Louis and carving time out of his busy schedule to share his wisdom.
