Walker Zanger, Inc. – Facilities Designer, North Hills

Walker Zanger is seeking an Interior Designer to offer both design and support functions for the facilities department.

Our in-house design staff is responsible for the planning, design, documentation, construction administration as well as ongoing maintenance of our offices, warehouses and 14 showrooms across the country.

Responsibilities:

  • Day to day MAC Operations (Moves, Adds & Changes) As part of planning process, develop space plans and tentative schedules, provide alternatives to achieve objectives, and develop budgets and cost impacts for various approaches.
  • Prepare detailed project cost estimates, implementation schedules and budgets.
  • Prepare and coordinate all project deliverables.
  • Manage contract administration responsibilities.
  • Maintain detailed sets of drawings for existing layout conditions (“as built”) for each department and facility.
  • Develop, source, negotiate and manage external vendor relationships. Verify that all areas comply with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage FFE procurement.
  • Participate in showroom design and development.

Skills:

  • A degree with major coursework in Interior Design.
  • Office furniture design & space planning exp.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office. Sketch up a +.
  • Ability to manage, prioritize, and follow thru on multiple projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Work as a team member yet also individually.
  • Strong attention to details and organizational skills.

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years experience on a professional level and be prepared to assist project architects and designers in the production of construction documents and detailing. They would have experience reviewing and annotating shop drawings and sample submittals, be versed in the construction administration process, as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities while consistently meeting the high standards that are crucial to project success.
