10 Questions with Brie Sausser
What is your favorite iconic chair?
It is really difficult for me to choose just one chair because I love furniture, particularly chairs! I would have to go with the Eames Molded Plywood Chair because I love its iconic form and its interesting background story. Developing the technology to build this chair was a feat of engineering by Ray and Charles.
What is your favorite California destination?
I am definitely a hiker/adventurer and I love all of the diverse landscapes that California has to offer. I particularly love the coastline of Central and Northern California, and more specifically Big Sur has a special place in my heart.
What is your favorite color?
My favorite color usually changes on an annual basis, yet always remains in the cool tones. Currently, my favorite color is grayish turquoise.
What is your go-to outfit?
My attire is usually on the casual side. My go-to outfit usually involves something with my denim shirt….cargo skinny pants with a denim shirt, sun dress with my denim shirt, etc.
Where would we find you on the weekend?
Sadly, I would most likely be in my studio at school working on the latest project! I try to get out for some yoga, bike rides, and/or ocean swims for at least half of a day each weekend.
Gold or Silver:
I am a big collector of silver and turquoise jewelry, so silver is definitely my choice
Beer or Wine:
I love a nice refreshing beer. Currently, I’m liking IPA’s.
Beach or Mountains:
I grew up in the Malibu Mountains so both the beach and the mountains are near and dear to my heart. It would be impossible for me to choose one! My ideal day would be spent hiking in the mountains then lounging and swimming at the beach.
Online or Print Magazines:
It’s a tough choice because I love the feeling of flipping through a physical magazine- its glossy pages and beautiful pictures create such an enjoyable experience. Although, I also like the idea of cutting back on waste and saving paper, ink and transportation resources.
Open or Private Offices:
Open for sure! Our studio at school is very compartmentalized and it is very difficult to collaborate with anyone other than your cubicle mate. In contrast, the office at my internship is open and the whole team can communicate easily with each other all day long!
I grew up in California and have two artistic parents (both are Graphic Designers). I always knew I wanted to pursue a career in some sort of creative field. I first realized my passion for interiors while attending Santa Monica College. I later transferred to Cal State Long Beach, and I am now a Senior in the BFA program. I am so thankful to be a part of this program. I love the people that I have met, the experiences I have gained and the opportunities that have come from being involved in it. When it comes to design, I am constantly exploring, gathering and celebrating images, ideas, colors, forms, design, and creativity. Ohh the wonders!!!
