10 Questions with Michelle Marotta
What is your favorite iconic chair:
I have a huge weakness for the Platner Easy Chair, and I dream of doing a special order on the frame in a soft brushed gold color.
What is your favorite California destination:
I love driving up the PCH when the traffic is actually moving – the view is spectacular and the air feels fresher. I’ve managed to keep within the Los Angeles County “bubble” on too often an occasion (there is so much to do in our own backyard!). Of the few places outside of LA that I’ve visited, Santa Barbara has been my favorite.
What is your favorite color:
It changes every few months… as a designer, how can it not? Right now I am in love with a particular shade of mint green. It’s not quite the “Emerald” Pantone color of the year, but close – it’s a little softer with a hint of blue. Recently, I’ve also had my eye on a pink/coral mix.
What is your go-to outfit:
Skinny pants or jeans, tunic, cardigan or blazer, and wedges or ballet flats. Add some Stella & Dot jewelry and an occasional scarf and I’m good to go!
Where would we find you on the weekend:
Most likely getting brunch with friends, the Rose Bowl Flea Market, and the beach when it’s warm.
Gold or Silver:
Definitely Rose Gold
Beer or Wine:
Both! Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, and a Chocolate Stout or Porter 🙂
Beach or Mountains:
At the beach with a mountain view…
Online or Print Magazines:
Definitely Print – there’s some sort of excitement missing for me when I read a magazine online or on my ipad. I feel rushed, I can’t fold over the corner of the pages I want to go back to, and there’s no way for an online print magazine to earn that nice worn look after I’ve read it over and over. I like the worn look a good magazine gets from being read over and over, brought to the beach or stuffed in your carry-on when traveling… it can’t be matched.
Open or Private Offices:
Easy: Open!
