AB1796 Advances to the State Senate Following Successful Committee Hearing
Last week marked a significant milestone for the interior design profession in California, as AB1796, the Licensed Professional Interior Designer Practice Act, successfully passed the Assembly Business and Professions Committee with an almost unanimous vote.
Interior designers, architects, students, and industry leaders showed up in force at the State Capitol, demonstrating the depth of support behind the legislation. There was an overwhelming turnout, with attendees lining up outside the hearing room to voice their support.
This achievement reflects years of dedicated effort from advocacy leaders and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to bring the bill to this point. While this milestone is worth celebrating, the work is far from over. With the bill now heading to the State Senate, continued advocacy and engagement from the design community will be essential in the next phase.
This progress is a testament to what can be accomplished when the interior design community comes together with a shared purpose. It highlights the power of a unified voice in shaping the future of the profession in California.
