California Interior Design Organizations Unite to Successfully Defeat AB 2192!

Congratulations to all Interior Designers in California who helped in defeating AB 2192 (Melendez)!  In its original form, this bill, introduced by the AIACC earlier this year, allowed for a peer-review/self-certification system for architectural approval of plans.  Earlier this week, IIDA Headquarters received notice that a decision had been made to drop AB2192 – meaning the bill is dead.  The staff at the Senate Transportation and Housing Committee has also been notified.

A very special thanks and congratulations are in order to the California advocacy team that is made up of the Interior Design Coalition of California (IDCC), its lobbying firm, Capital Advisors; and the IIDA and ASID local California Chapters. IIDA Vice Presidents of Advocacy, Michelle Hill and Kira Courpet of IIDA Northern California and Kelsey Myatt and Jeff Hollander of Southern California also deserve a huge thank you as they encouraged members statewide to utilize the grassroots advocacy means available to them to help defeat this bill. We are so pleased that IIDA Headquarters was able to work alongside the two IIDA California Chapters and IDCC throughout this process.

Again, congratulations everyone on this major victory!
