SD City Center – Desk Talk with Nancy Kind
Meet Nancy Kind, Designer at LPA, Inc. She is our Professional Development Co-chair for the IIDA San Diego City Center local board. We asked her a few questions and here are her answers:
1. How long have you lived in San Diego and what do you like most about living here?
I have lived in San Diego for a total of 15 years. In between I move to Los Gatos (Silicon Valley) for 6 years BUT moved back in 2001. San Diego is known as the ‘World’s Finest City’ but I call it Play Land. I enjoy being outside, playing beach volleyball, riding my bike up the coast, golf. Plus did you know that San Diego is the 3rd largest city for the number of Craft Breweries?
2. If you could sing one song on American Idol, what would you sing?
I am not a person who sings in public but I am really good in my car. This morning the song for the drive was ‘Live it Up’ by 360. A great upbeat song about living your life to the best. I love my Aussie Hip Hop.
3. What advice would you give to a Freshman who just entered a design program?
My advice to students is take advantage of everything school has to offer. You can design whatever you want with no restrictions. The client is perfect and agrees with all your design choices, what budget.
4. If you could be any character in fiction, who would you be?
Katniss Everdeen from the Hunger Games. I quickly read thru all three books. She is a survivor, brave, daring who can take care of herself. No excuses. I can’t wait for the Last movie to come out in November.
