Herman Miller Hosts We Care 2012

Last month, Herman Miller along with partnering company Geiger hosted their annual philanthropic event We Care at the Boys and Girls Club of Hollywood. Nearly 150 kids of all ages flooded the club to create handmade gifts for their family and friends this holiday season. Santa made an appearance to pose for a few photos and to listen to the wish lists of excited children waiting to meet the famous Christmas icon. Festive balloon animals floated throughout the space and face painting stations allowed kids to dream up their own artistic visions, all while Christmas music hummed in the background keeping everything lively and buzzing with holiday spirit.

Thirteen design firms participated along with Herman Miller and dealers Pivot Interiors, M3 Office, and The Sheridan Group to put together one of biggest and busiest events to date. Crafts like homemade cookie mix jars, snow globes, scarves, and frames kept the children busy as they worked with participating design firms About Space, AECOM, DLR Group, Gensler, HLW, HMC, HOK, IA Interior Architects, Wirt Design, Perkins + Will, Rapt Studios, Wolcott Architecture Interiors, and ZGF. The evening concluded as kids left with bags full of wrapped gifts and a few snacks to reward their hard work while volunteers sat down to a communal dinner to recap the day’s events.

Herman Miller and Geiger also coordinated an Orange County version of the yearly We Care event which entertained one of their largest crowds of children yet. Combined, both the Los Angeles and Orange County versions of We Care continued a tradition that the families of the Boys and Girls club and the designers look forward to every year. The night kicks off the holiday spirit and is an event that the Herman Miller team gets excited to plan every year.
