Inspiring Hope: Highlights from the 2024 Leaders Breakfast
The 2024 Leaders Breakfast was an uplifting gathering of the design community, honoring two incredible selfless individuals, this year’s honoree Vickie Kropenske of Hope Street Family Center and our keynote speaker, Vijay Gupta, from Street Symphony. They both focus on empowering people from primarily the downtown LA community in an effort to instill hope to those who need it the most.
After brief remarks from our Media Sponsor Interior Design Magazine and International Benefactor MillerKnoll as well as an intro of Vickie and all of the services Hope Street does, Vickie Kropenske was awarded the MillerKnoll stool in red, a custom color made for Leaders Breakfast honorees. She shared a touching video of the wonderful work and facility that the Hope Street Family Center offers for the children and families of low-income in Downtown LA investing in the entire family unit.
We were incredibly honored to have Vijay Gupta, founder and Artistic director of Street Symphony as well as a celebrated violinist, curator and music director, play a beautiful rendition of “Halleluja” by Leonard Cohen. He shared the inspiring work of Street Symphony which is a community of artists who have presented thousands of musical workshops, performances, and lessons in LA shelters, clinics, county jails, state hospitals and prisons.
Cheryl Durst, the Executive Vice President and CEO of IIDA, moderated a meaningful discussion between the two guests.
Please visit Hope Street Family Center and Street Symphony to find out more about how you can help make an impact on the families in your community. Most notably, Street Symphony’s upcoming Resound Festival on December 6th.
