CDL Design Group – Job Captain, Irvine

CDL Design Group is a full-service commercial interior architectural and design firm working on hospitality, institutional and commercial projects. Our portfolio includes commercial properties, individual business suites, government, retail, restaurant and industrial projects. 

The company is seeking an energetic, conscientious and self-motivated professional with five or more years of experience managing projects within a commercial design firm. Great design takes a team of talented people who are passionate about design and care about what they are doing every step of the way.

Integral to this position is a proactive approach to building strong client and industry relationships. This opportunity requires coordination of small to mid-size projects and maintaining open lines of communication throughout the process. Working with a given schedule and budget towards maximum client satisfaction is expected. The candidate must be confident in networking skills and possess the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, consultants and clients, both written and verbally.

Day to day Responsibilities

– Production of design and construction documents

– Management of projects 

– Material research, sourcing and specification

– Development of project graphics and renderings

The successful candidate will be required to:

• Work with Project Managers and Principal to meet schedules and track additional services.

• Foster and maintain a collaborative professional working relationship with Project Team including the client, architect, engineer and contractor(s).

• Plan, organize and manage client projects, providing on-going communication through team meetings/minutes/up-date memos to project team.

• Responsible to fully research, coordinate, document and submit all plan check corrections with applicable city agencies

• Knowledge of California building codes, construction, standards and ADA details

• Generate schematic drawings utilizing current AutoCAD version

• Prepare architectural construction documents and specifications

• Review and correct all mark-ups on drawings 

• Draw rough and detailed scale plans based on preliminary concepts, sketches

• Review construction documents for CAD standards and architectural content

• Ability to conduct detailed field surveys and BOMA Calculations

• Detailed oriented in selecting Millwork details, Hardware and Finishes

Qualifications:

• 5+ years experience as a Job Captain in an architecture or interior design practice

• Experience producing construction documents and providing construction observation

• Proficiency with AutoCAD 2016

• Proficiency in Microsoft word and Excel

• Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment 

• Dynamic, self-motivated with a positive attitude

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Effective client management skills

• Excellent driving record
