LA’s 2024 Haunt Couture Wins Big with Lotería

The spirit of creativity and vibrant storytelling continues to resonate after “Let’s Play a Game,” Haunt Couture 2024. This unique fashion celebration, presented by IIDA SoCal’s LA City Center, invited interior design teams to push the limits of imagination and textiles. Set against the storied backdrop of The Avalon Hollywood, visions transformed into stunning reality in an unforgettable runway show that captivated all who attended.

Haunt Couture is a dynamic showcase that invites interior design teams to transform commercial-grade fabrics into captivating narratives. This year’s theme, “Let’s Play a Game,” draws inspiration from the vibrant Lotería cards, encouraging participants to infuse their designs with elements of playfulness, strategy, and imaginative storytelling.

Prior to the runway show, teams plunged into an exhilarating day of creation, transforming fabrics into stunning garments inspired by their assigned Lotería cards. Each card served as a unique muse, fueling their creativity as needles flew and innovative ideas came to life.

Weeks later, the Avalon hosted a spectacular unveiling as each team showcased their Lotería-inspired creations on the runway. The audience was transported into a realm where La Luna shimmered, El Pescado swirled, and La Mano reached out in captivating designs. It was a vibrant fusion of interior design and fashion, celebrating the boundless spirit of creativity

First place went to Lamar Johnson Collaborative for their remarkable creation, “El Árbol.” This design was “giving” fashion, fun, and creativity, captivating the audience with its vibrant colors and intricate details. Their impressive performance on the runway ultimately led them a well-deserved victory.

The second place winner was HKS with their stunningly haunting, “La Muerte” who truly killed it on the runway.

Third place went to HDR with their, “La Rosa” who walked down the aisle leaving a path of bloody destruction.

While LJC, HKS and HDR took home the trophies and their respective titles, every team participating in Haunt Couture 2024 contributed to an amazing show. The event celebrated not just the winners, but also the creativity and commitment of everyone involved.
