Meet a Member: Carolyn Aspa, Assoc. IIDA
Carolyn is our co-director for Inland Empire Chapter.
Q: Where do you work? What is your role there? What’s your favorite part of the job?
I work at HMC Architects as a Designer II – Interiors. A few things come to mind, the people I work with and having the opportunity to design schools that children will be learning in! Being able to cultivate that learning environment for them is a privilege.
Q: Are you working from home? Can you share a photo of your WFH set up?
Yes, I am currently still WFH. We started working from home last March of 2020 and haven’t gone back since then.
Q: Best memory of an IIDA SoCal event?
The OC Fashion Shows. HMC has participated for 2 years and both times have been so much fun!
Q: Best place to be inspired?
Traveling to new and old places. I grew up traveling a lot, seeing different places and learning about different cultures really opens your mind.
Q: Favorite restaurant vibes in your neighborhood?
Copehouse Bar & Bistro in Redlands. We went there for my birthday, it sits in an alleyway surrounded by brick buildings and it reminds me of traveling in Europe.
Q: What is your favorite creative outlet?
Lately, I have been into drawing on my iPad or creating crafts on my circuit. It’s nice to do something creative outside of interior design.
Q: What is your role in volunteering for IIDA SoCal? What’s your favorite part of the role?
I volunteer as Co-Director of the Inland Empire City Center. I love being able to work with other volunteers that are local.
