Meet a Member: Chloe Thornton, Ind. IIDA
Q: What is your role in volunteering for IIDA SoCal? What’s your favorite part of the role?
I am currently the VP of City Centers. I oversee the Los Angeles and Inland Empire city centers in the IIDA Southern California Chapter. I love the collaboration among the different regions. It has been really rewarding to see the chapter work together in the last year as we all learn to navigate the virtual world as a cohesive group
Q: Where do you work? What is your role?
MDC Interior Solutions Account Executive. I represent MDC’s product portfolio of interior vertical and ceiling solutions.
Q: Favorite part about your job?
I love to be a resource for designers. I get to be a part of their creative process and provide solutions that will be both aesthetic and beneficial to the space they are designing.
Q: Are you working from home? Can you share a pic of your WFH setup?
MDC is based out of Chicago so I have always been remote. Since the pandemic started the majority of my meetings are virtual.
Q: Favorite artists/designers, you follow on Instagram?
Jamie Beckwith, Candice Olson, Bobby Berk, Thom Filicia
Q: Go-to place to be inspired?
Anywhere that my running shoes will take me. Bonus points if there is a body of water and a sunrise or sunset!
Q: Best memory from an IIDA event?
2019 Los Angeles Design walk. Everyone involved was so innovative, the coordination and planning between each team were so inspiring.
Q: What is your favorite creative outlet?
To be perfectly honest, my favorite creative outlet is my job. Designers will send their mood board and ask me to send wallcovering that might work with their scheme. I tear apart my home library finding options for them. It is my favorite part of my job.
