Orange County 2014 Trunk Show & Fabric Grab Unplugged

IIDA OC hosted their annual Trunk Show/Fabric Grab this past week at GKK in Irvine. Several fabric vendors donated large samples for use in this years Haute Couture fashion show which benefits Working Wardrobes and Olive Crest. Olive Crest Children’s homes provide services for children who cannot depend on support from their families. Working Wardrobes accepts donations of slightly used clothing and accessories that will go toward helping get men and women in crises back to work.

The bell was rung and the firms were off and running to find the perfect fabric for their designs. Fabrics were flying as the dedicated “runners” quickly grabbed what they needed and tossed it to their teammates. Firms participating this year are Gensler, GKK, HKS, IA, Kardent, Little, LPA, SAA, Sisson Design Group, Ware Malcomb and West Group. Student design teams showcasing along with design firms come from Orange Coast College, CSU Long Beach and Art Institute.

Truck Show committee chairs Margo de Ramirez of en4orm and Grace Kang of Knoll made sure the event was a blast by coordinating volunteers, organizing vendor booths and securing fabric donations.

Save the date! The 14th Annual Haute Couture is Thursday April 17th from 6-9PM at The Samueli Theater, Segerstrom Center for the Arts. Purchase tickets today on the IIDA website here!
