Derek holds a BFA in Interior Design from California State University, Long Beach with over 12 years of professional work experience, specializing in workplace design. He enjoys mentoring young designers from local universities to incubate and inspire the next generation of talent while advocating for the Interior Design industry.
Having been an active member of IIDA since 2009, he has formerly served as the Chair of Student Affairs and Advocacy for the IIDA Orange County City Center, and is currently the VP of Student Affairs for the Southern California IIDA Board. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children.
