3rd Annual Upcoming Student Exhibition & Sample Swap Recap

Student Sample Swap, The Textile search

In all seriousness, what could possibly be more exciting & motivating to a student than rubbing elbows with industry professionals, showing off their presentation & design skills, and the chance of winning 1 of 4 awesome prizes?  Well, graduating of course!

First, let’s boost student exposure with the 3rd Annual Student Exhibition to be held at Cal State Long Beach.

With entrants capped off at 31 thesis projects from 13 different LA/Orange County/Long Beach schools, these top of their class students will compete for first, second and third places judged by distinguished senior designers from various LA firms. In addition, they’ll also award the People’s Choice – everyone’s favorite award.

Prepped with a plethora of business knowledge from a professional panel of speakers and product specialists as well as mounds of the finest materials samples, the well-attended & successful Student Sample Swap was held at HOK on April 28th.  Each student is forecasted to showcase their most genius works in hopes of landing a gig, an award, or simply a “job well done” pat on the back at the Student Exhibition.

Though for some the trek down the southbound 405 and 110 freeways from LA can seem a little scary and indefinitely gives you the “stay away” rush hour vibe. Have no fear!  Tangram Interiors has so graciously sponsored not one but two shuttle rides to and from the LBC!  Room is limited to RSVP soon and have the rare chance to sit back, relax and enjoy the view!

So perfectly stated by Abby Lenon, A+D Sales Rep for Herman Miller, following her speech as one of the Student Sample Swap professional panel guests, “What a great group of students.  They came from such varied walks of life.  It is so encouraging to see their commitment to our industry.  Their excitement and drive inspired me.”  So there you go folks, the Student Exhibition is not only a prime opportunity to network and enjoy fresh exhibited works, but to support and give invaluable feedback whilst exchanging inspiration with the future of our industry!
