A Look Inside the HUB Los Angeles

Situated in one of Downtown LA’s revitalized buildings and up the street from Sci-Arc is the HUB LA, one of a number of co-working spaces that are popping up nationwide. This June, the IIDA Southern California Chapter will hold their summer mixer in the HUB’s newly renovated warehouse space, a 7,000 sq./ft. open plan office complete with kitchen, training rooms, and lounges, along with a 3,000 sq./ft. media lab situated on their second floor. The environment of the Hub goes well beyond a simple touchdown space for freelancers and small companies by building an environment that fosters social and cultural awareness along with smart business practices. Community workshops, art exhibits, film screenings, and volunteer opportunities are supplemented with business basics workshops and peer-to-peer venture competitions to create a working environment that is not only engaged in society, but in a changing business scene as well.

Their Media Lab is the newest addition to the space which will provide additional areas for members of the HUB to expand their network while working with the basic tools they may not have access to on their own. On the HUB’s website, Managing Director, Julie Ledebev, explains that her wish for the new space is to see co-productions between members come out of the Media Lab. She goes on to say that many have expressed the need to tell their stories, to use multimedia to enhance their brands, and this new space will be the way to achieve those needs.

The night of the IIDA mixer will give attendees a chance to walk through the space and see how the new interior facilitates a thriving environment for business owners. Make sure to join in one of the tours, while enjoying food, drinks, and giveaways.
