Are You Interested In Joining the License2Design Movement?
Did you know that 27 other states support licensure for interior design? Although the state of California certifies interior designers, the certification process is specific to our state only, and the certified interior designer (CID) is not recognized by other states. That’s why the Northern and Southern California Chapters of IIDA have joined forces to launch License2Design, a grass roots campaign founded by professional interior designers.
It’s our mission to unite our profession through interior design licensure. We believe that an informed population will support licensure legislation and through this campaign we’ll create a place for our community to learn more and get involved. In 2011, we launched a website to help inform our members and register support. Our website offers educational resources including links to related organizations, supporting documents and pertinent information to our fellow professionals, consumers, legislators, building code officials and construction industry colleagues.
Across the nation, efforts are under way to legally recognize the interior design profession through legislation that provides interior designers the right to practice in code-regulated environments.
We need all the support we can get so register through license2design.org today and become part of a movement that will make a difference for our profession. If you’d like to get involved and help us get the word out, feel free to contact us anytime.
Be sure to subscribe to Bright IIDeAs to receive updated information on what’s happening in legislation and upcoming License2Design events, panels and fundraisers.
