Yes on AB1796: Town Halls Across All City Centers

This spring, IIDA SoCal Advocacy VP’s Amanda Humphrey and Sergio Lechuga hosted 3 town halls in Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego to update designers, industry peers, students, and more on our sponsored bill, AB1796 Licensed Professional Interior Designer Practice Act. Click here to see more photos from the events.

We discussed the history of interior design regulation in California and across the US, identified key differences between licensure and certification, and answered questions about the bill and how to get involved in the legislative process. Our first hearing will be April 21 with the Assembly Business and Professions Committee – we hope to see you there!

Thank you to our advocacy committee and to our bill sponsors for helping to make these town halls possible and supporting interior designers in California.
